We at Robin Joy Riggsbee want to offer our solemn condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the mid-air plane and helicopter collision, which occurred yesterday morning, just before noon, over the Hudson River in lower Manhattan.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this devastating event.

Origami Wallets
Sok Song, origami artist extraordinaire has created these wonderful wallets out of our graphics. All made with one sheet of paper, no glue and scissors, just mathematical paper folding genius. Here is one with the Hand Dancer. $30 for this awesome conversational piece. Imagine whipping this out and the things you could talk about and share with people. Sok Song does it again.

Merci Beaucoup
Waking up this morning was like coming out of a dream. Last night was our gallery opening and it was beyond our wildest expectations. Everyone. Everything. It was surreal!
We had over 200 people come out (!). And we met some of the most interesting people from fashion and art and origami.
First and foremost I would like to thank Sok Song. If you are ever so fortunate to have someone like him in your life on a personal or professional level--- WELL, one should be so blessed. Sok and I also want to thank Marcio Noguchi and the whole OMG group for helping with the prep work on the exhibit. And thank you guys for coming out!
My business partner Sherry. I haven't told you about her yet? She's my best friend and we also wrote our 2 books together A Couple O' Cats and The Heartleys. She's the best and without her-- well things would be verrrrrry different.
I also wanted to thank Patrick McDonald for being a wonderful and tireless host, and to Steven and Hiroko Taffel who also hosted the event at their store and lent us the gallery space. All of you were so important to making the night run smoothly.
Some more people who helped out... Alexander Horwitz -- wow. He helped design the 'flow' of the room and thank you so much for being a part of it all. Jamie Rosenburg who filmed the whole event, thank you!
The beautiful and stunning Hope Davis, who not only modeled one of my dresses, but was enchanting as a personality for the event.
And again, to everyone that came out. I sound like a broken record, but it was like being in a dream or in a movie. Thank you, I am still overJOYed.
Love,
Robin

Opening Night- February 5th
The opening night of the collaboration between me, Robin and Sok Song is approaching-- and we've been so busy assembling all the pieces. We've been helped out so much by Steve and Hiroko of Leffot-- and if you are in Greenwich Village, please stop by and see what we're doing in the marriage of the world of graphics with the world of origami.
The event is going to be at the Gallery of Leffot which is located at 10 Christopher Street between Ave of the Americas and Gay St. We're going to be in the back, and you can't miss us. The opening night party is going to be hosted by our good friend Patrick McDonald. If you are going to come by, please send us an email so that we can confirm you. The event is from 7-9 in the evening. RSVP to robin@robinjoy.com if you would like to come and meet us!

Friday Meeting
Guess What! We are going to be in a film about people who are passionate about what they do. Today, we had a meeting with Patrick McDonald (who is not 67!), stylish and handsome man-about-town, who is hosting our show at the gallery of Leffot coming up in just 20 days. Sok is here and he's folding away while we all plan fun events for the upcoming year. Miss Flavia, the super cool jewelry designer/comedienne and lots of other things, is planning her trunk show here for some time in late April. It's going to be awesome. Miss Shivani highly covets her fantastic 18K gold 'flavia' gold band (but would much rather have it say 'shivani' ;).
Friday Funday, right before Saturday FLatterday and Sunday Funday.

The Store- An Ever-Changing Mural
What we're working with here!
Here's a little taste of the store before we added all our accents. We live in an ever mutating world, with constantly changing wall murals-- but the black and white illustrations will always be the basis of what we do here. I hope you guys can get an idea of our space here-- and we'll keep adding new pictures so you can see how we're evolving over time.
Ch-ch-check it out.
Mexico to Manhattan
So I am going to be returning from Mexico tomorrow-- and it's going to be 4-7" of snow. Mexico to Manhattan!
Meanwhile, we've had some great visitors in the store. Shivani met with Bradley Ersam of Bradley Ersam Designs-- he retools bikes (motorbikes to tricycles) and does art that's as detailed as mine-- but very different. A real renaissance man. Check out his work at www.bradleyersamdesigns.com
We'll be getting back to work on the installation exhibition with Sok-- if he's ready to brave the storm.
Stay warm!
